Japanese Whisky: The Ultimate Guide to the World's Most Desirable Spirit
Brian Ashcraft
144pp
From next week I'll begin my look at Haruki Murakami to allow me to put out a few reviews as I work my way through his mammoth 704pp new release Killing Commendatory coming out in October. So, before I dig in and try and feel my way through the complexities of a skilled, but possibly over-hyped (certainly not under-hyped anyhow) writer, I offer a quick look a beautiful work.
Japanese Whisky, but Brian Ashcraft, is a tutorial on the making and drinking of this alcoholic beverage. The book is packed full of information and mouth watering pictures of the brewing process as well as the places they are made and the places they are to be had.
This is an experts guide for anyone interested in the subject. I had it on my summer reading list, but maybe it's even better for fall, as we put down our beer and drink something for the cooler times (they're coming, promise!!).
Great coffee table book (or bathroom reader) that you can pick up and put down and learn little bits at a time.
Recommended, for yourself or a gift (it is, as with many Tuttle books, really lovely just to look at).
